ASU FINANCIAL AID SITE:

USABILITY STUDY AND REDESIGN PROJECT

Larkspur Elementary Website

To better meet the needs of ASU students, particularly during a global pandemic, a redesign of ASU's Financial Aid & Scholarship Services site was proposed. User research determined that more than half of study participants needed additional financial assistance. As illustrated in the concept and usage stories (see thumbnails below), many students faced financial hardships as a result of COVID-19 and its effects on the economy.

A large percentage of research participants indicated that they did not know about many of ASU's services and that resources were difficult to find and/or navigate. Financial hardship resources are currently published on at least seven different sub-pages of ASU's website and are often hidden within unexpected pages of the site.

As shown in the wireframes and prototype stills, the redesigned Financial Aid interface highlights and incorporates information regarding various financial assistance resources. The Financial Aid site was chosen as an intuitive location to house this information so that students can easily find applicable resources and services.
